A little respite (while we test our video function)

Whether you just got back from your work commute, or finally decided to turn off the news, it’s clear that at times it’s difficult to take a moment and catch your breath.  Or just appreciate some of the simpler things in life.  Well, since we’re slowly building our Move Through to You blog, we thought it’d be good to find a soothing and appreciative way of testing the video capabilities available on wordpress.
The relevance of this video is that Mequon Clinical Associates is located next to one of Ozaukee County’s pristine wetlands.  And although this video is from Madison, it does give you an idea of the tone we aspire to set and the environment in which we provide psychotherapy.  More importantly, this brief clip is an inspiring reminder of how good it can feel to slow things down a bit and appreciate some of the simpler things within our reach.

Take a Moment and Be in the Moment

where you are is pretty good

Throughout the day it’s quite easy to find yourself caught up thinking about life’s many challenges.  Whether it’s running late for work, getting the kids off to school in time, or just staring at the clock waiting for lunch, it’s easy to worry about what you didn’t do, or be stressed about the many tasks that lie ahead.  But, have you ever stopped to focus on, or better yet, appreciate where you are?  I mean, at this exact moment?   This attached article from Psychology Today contributor and neuropsychologist, Dr. Rick Hanson, emphasizes the importance of slowing down to appreciate who you are and where you are at the moment.  Best of all, it doesn’t simplify or downplay the realities that we face day in, and day out.  But it does acknowledge that to face them effectively and with optimism, first you have to be in a better and more realistic place.

That being said, give it a read and let us know our thoughts.
